Celtic - Telecommunication Solutions
For European Leadership in Telecommunications

Celtic is a EUREKA cluster and the only European R&D programme in ICT fully dedicated to end-to-end telecommunication solutions. Celtic will initiate and run  privately and public funded ICT/ telecommunications R&D projects. It is supported by most of the major European players in communication technologies. Celtic projects are focusing at telecoms networks, applications, and services looking at a complete system approach. The size of the Celtic budget is in the range of 1 billion euro. Celtic is open to any kind of project participants from all EUREKA countries.

Successful 100GET Status Meeting

On 24 and 25 June the biggest Celtic project, 100GET, which is largely funded, among other countries, by the German BMBF, organised its status meeting and Celtic mid-term review took place in Dresden. The meeting was attended by around 100 people.


Celtic Awards given to three successful projects
Three, very successfully closed projects, received the Celtic Awards 2008, which were handed over at the Celtic Event in Paris.

  • The Gold Award received the project TIGER;
  • The Silver Award was given to the project MOVIES, and
  • The Bronze Award received the project CARLINK

Celtic congratulates the projects for their outstanding work and successful results.


Celtic News 1/ 2009 (May 2009)

CARLINK:
15.11.2008: Helsingin Sanomat, the biggest Finnish Newspaper published a two page publication about intelligent roads and the Celtic Carlink project. On the 1st page of this file there is a generic article on "Intelligence is coming to the crossroads". On the 2nd page, the rest of the above mentioned article is visible, and there is a new article "State of the roads information to a driver within seconds". This is about Carlink. MADEIRA: New technologies for better network management

The EUREKA-funded CELTIC MADEIRA project, winner of the 2008 CELTIC Excellence Award, has successfully applied new ways to manage large telecommunications networks using a web-based interface. more

Cooperation with European Technology Platforms
Celtic and the following ETP have agreed on a closer cooperation within their Strategic Research Agendas (SRA) and the Celtic work programme. For the time being this cooperation will be assured through observers at the Steering Boards. The SRA of the ETP are also possible work items for Celtic projects.

Public Safety Communication Europe With the support of the European Commission, “Forum for Public Safety Communication Europe” has been established in order to facilitate consensus building in the area of public safety communication and information management systems. This Forum invites users and policy makers, industrials (technology and service providers), research organizations and standard making authorities to reach consensus on security related subjects.

 

Celtic Call 7 PO phase closed

On 17th June 19 PO have been accepted and invited to submit a full project proposal (FPP) by 30th October 2009. The list of accepted PO and contact details to the project coordinator are found here.


Very successful Celtic Event in Paris

13 Celtic Proposals received Celtic Label

The Public Authorities and the Celtic Core Group have endorsed 13 project proposals and assigned a Celtic/ EUREKA Label to them. The budget volume of the endorsed projects is around 100 million euro. The labelled projects, abstracts and contact points are indicated in the Celtic project tables. The successful projects will now start actions to kick-off the project in early 2009.



The Celtic Purple Book - Version 2007-2008

The Celtic Initiative has produced the Celtic Purple Book that describes the Celtic objectives and strategy towards the Celtic goal of a European leadership in telecommunications.
