Abstract |
|
The aim of the NEMESIS project is to provide a new
integrated scenario for media and content use in the converged world, and
transform the way intra- and inter-company media production processes are
organized and in particular how content providers structure and offer
content and how people search for information. The project will move away
from today’s widely prevalent text search paradigm, towards mixed-media
queries and more efficient digital content presentation, opening content
dimensions to 3D. The project plans to offer an open architecture with
integrated services and advanced solutions for experiencing, searching and
accessing creative audio-visual content in end-to-end systems enabling
intuitive media production, delivery and handling both for professional
and non-professional users.
NEMESIS provides personalised and context-aware, multimedia services and applications that can be dynamically composed for a variety of roles (consumer, prosumer, etc.), locations, contexts and mobility scenarios. Through careful consideration and focus on user interaction processes, NEMESIS provides new ways to both describe and retrieve information and significantly enhances creative industry workflows and frameworks. Creative industry workers that primarily deal with searching, browsing and producing digital content will be provided with tools that make their work more effective and that can be used both within their intra and inter-organisational networks, and on the Internet to help them deliver new creative forms of interactive, immersive and very high quality media and release the creative potential of Europe. For that the project will also develop flexible business models that enable those forms of networked enterprises and can be adapted to the project-specific nature of the creative industry work. The NEMESIS services include advanced search using mixed-media queries; trust and social network ranking components; context awareness components; feedback mechanisms; and adaptive presentation of digital content in 3D and tools that support the analysis, intelligent indexing, storage and retrieval of user generated content and their personal digital life. The initial uses cases of the NEMESIS project are: a) support of inter- and intra-networked enterprises in creative content and media production; examination of collaborative media production environments and workflows and distributed media authoring and b) instant user-generated media content broadcasting through various networks (internet, mobile, DVB-T, DVB-H, IPTV, etc.). |
