MOBILIA

Title: Mobility concepts for IMT-Advanced

Coordinator: Sylvie Mayrargue, e-mail: sylvie.mayrargue (at) cea.fr

Involved countries: France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus

Abstract

MOBILIA project targets broadband wireless communications, such as IEEE 602.16m and beyond.

MOBILIA addresses the various challenges posed by very high bit rates communications:
 - from the physical layer point of view: MIMO, multi user MIMO,
 - from the cross-layer point of view: MIMO and SDMA scheduling,
 - from the hardware point of view, multiple compact antennas, cross layer approach to terminal energy saving.

High bit rates mean also high spectral efficiency, which may be reached by heterogeneous handovers. MOBILIA will study seamless heterogeneous handover mechanisms, with service adaptation. Also, baseband and RF reconfigurability, which are requirements for heterogeneous handovers are studied.
