Celtic News, 5 December 2007 Very successful Call 5 Proposal Labelling - Information Day for upcoming Celtic Call 6 Content: 1) 26 new Celtic project proposals received Celtic Label The Celtic Call 5 in 2007 for new R&D projects in telecommunications was, so far, the most successful of all Celtic project calls. From originally 38 proposal outlines, received during the first phase of Call 5, 33 proposals were selected and invited to submit a full project proposal. From the received 27 full project proposals finally 26 proposals were selected and assigned the Celtic Label. The quality of the received full project proposals, this year, was exceptionally good. This high success rate of proposals to become a recognised Celtic project is again very encouraging also for the next Call 6, which will start in 2008. The Call 5 project budget of the labelled proposals accrues to about 216 million euro and about 1,860 person years of effort. The average project has a duration of roughly 31 months, about 13 partners, and about 5.5 countries per project. The average project budget is over 8 million euro. The abstracts and contact information of the labelled projects can be accessed from the Celtic website: http://www.celtic-initiative.org/Projects/project-info.asp The successful proposals will now start final negotiations with the concerned Public Authorities to assure public funding and to launch the projects within the next coming weeks or months. 2) Celtic Information Day, Celtic Event and upcoming Celtic Call 6 The next Celtic Call 6 will start early January 2008. This two-phase Call process envisages the start of new projects from early 2009. It can be expected that also Call 6 will have similar budget volumes as Call 4 and Call 5, i.e. between 150 to 200 million euro, which, partly, are public funded. As a general opportunity to learn about Call 6 proposal requirements and as a platform to inform other interested experts about your project idea Celtic will organise again a Celtic Information Day, which will be held on 26 February 2008 in Helsinki. Experts and potential project partners, interested to present their project ideas and looking for additional consortium members, are invited to register for this Information Day as soon as possible. The Information Day is open to the public and is free of charge. Space capacity is limited to about 100 people. Further information and a link to register is available at: http://www.celtic-initiative.org/Events/InfoDay-08-Helsinki/celtic_information_day_08.asp In connection with the Celtic Information Day Celtic organises its third Event 2008 on 26 and 27 February 2008 at the same premises in Helsinki. To attend this event a personal invitation is required. Further information on the Event and possibilities for obtaining a personal invitation are given at: http://www.celtic-initiative.org/Events/Celtic-Event08-Helsinki/welcome.asp The Event is limited to about 200 people. +++++++++++ Please note also that a new issue of the Celtic News (a joint publication together with "Eurescom mess@ge") has been published recently. Besides latest project reports collaboration aspects between Celtic and the ICT Technology Platforms eMobility, NEM, NESSI and ISI are discussed. More info at: http://www.celtic-initiative.org/
