Celtic Call 5 deadline is approaching on 22 May 2007

Celtic would like to remind you that the submission deadline of Celtic's 5th Call for Proposal Outlines (PO) is approaching on 22 May. If you have a good proposal that you would like to submit then you should not hesitate to discuss it with your consortia or interested partners and to write a few-page outline. By submitting a proposal outline you would comply to the requested two-phase proposal process and you may be invited to submit a full proposal in October and, provided good review results, your project eventually could become a public funded Celtic project. Please note that full project proposals are, generally, not accepted without a proposal outline submitted in the first call phase.

As for previous calls the expected overall project budget of Call 5 will again be in the range of 100 to 150 million euro.

Possible research items are particularly focusing on telecommunications systems, services and applications, broadband mobile and fixed networks, middleware- related service and network management and security aspects. Details on the possible work items are specified in the Celtic Purple Book (http://www.celtic-initiative.org/Documents/PB-Version-2007.pdf )  but may also refer to the strategic research agendas of the European Technology Platforms eMobility, NEM, NESSI or ISI. It may therefore be well possible that your proposal may be derived from a current IST proposal, e.g. to complement or extend the research topics.

Further details of Call 5 and access for online submission are available at: http://www.celtic-initiative.org/Project_calls/Call5/call-5-PO.asp  The two-phase Call process will require for the successful proposal outline a full project proposal to be submitted in the second phase of Call 5, which will start in July 2007 until 15 October 2007. It envisages project start from early 2008. For assuring fast and efficient reviews you should send us a preliminary announcement of your submission intention until 15 May 2007.

In case you have any additional question related to the call, your proposal, or funding aspects please do not hesitate to contact the Celtic Office.
