Celtic News,  23 November 2006

Content:
1) 18 new Celtic project proposals received Celtic Label
2) Upcoming Celtic Call 5
3) Celtic Call 5 Information Day and Celtic Event 2007

18 new Celtic project proposals received Celtic Label
1) From originally 30 proposal outlines, received during the first phase of Call-4 26 proposals were invited to submit a full project proposal. From the received 21 full project proposals finally 18 proposals were selected to receive a Celtic Label. This high success rates of proposals to become a recognised Celtic project is again very encouraging also for the next Call-5, which will start in 2007.

The successful proposals will now start final negotiations with the concerned Public Authorities to assure public funding and to launch the projects within the next coming weeks or months. The expected Call-4 project budget of the labeled proposals accrues to about 134 million euro related to an average project duration of roughly 30 months. The abstracts and contact information of the labeled projects can be accessed from the Celtic website: http://www.celtic-initiative.org/Projects/project-info.asp.

Upcoming Celtic Call 5

2) The next Call 5 will start early January 2007. This two-phase Call process envisages project start from early 2008. Since the Celtic Call 5 will run in parallel to the FP7 IST calls it is suggested that both calls are taken into consideration when defining proposals. This approach in defining a consistent concept of related projects but also as a prevision of possible failures of IST submissions, should improve the success rate of submissions and achieve a better coverage of research topics, e.g. from Strategic Research Agendas.

Celtic Call 5 Information Day and Celtic Event 2007

3) As a general information for the preparation of Call-5 proposals Celtic will organise again an Information Day, which will be held on 21 February 2007 in Berlin. Experts and potential project partners interested to present their project ideas and looking for interested consortium members are invited to register for this information day as soon as possible. The information day is open to the public and free of charge. Space capacity is limited to 100 people. Further information and a link to register is available at: www.celtic-initiative.org/Events/InfoDay-07/celtic_information_day_07.asp.

In connection with the Celtic Information Day Celtic organises its second Event 2007 on 22 and 23 February at the same premises in Berlin. To attend this event a personal information is necessary. Further information on the Event and possibilities for obtaining a personal invitation are given at: http://www.celtic-initiative.org/Events/Celtic-Event07-Berlin/welcome.asp. This Event is limited to 200 people.
