officially been launched
by 23rd January. The
deadline for the submission of
proposal outlines is 4
May 2006. For further

Celtic - 4th Call for Project
Proposals
Celtic, a EUREKA cluster project, is a European R&D programme designed to strengthen Europe's competitiveness in telecommunications through short and medium term collaborative projects. Celtic is the only European R&D programme fully dedicated to end-to-end telecommunication solutions. Currently, after 3 calls, the project volume is in the region of 300 M€ with an annual effort of about 1000 person-years.
Celtic is open
to telecoms network operators
and telecoms
industry, both
large companies and
SMEs , as
well as ,
research institutes and universities from all EUREKA
countries. The focus of Celtic projects is on pre-competitive
development of comprehensive, integrated communication system solutions,
including platforms and test vehicles.
The start of the successful
projects is envisaged for early 2007. The
costs for Celtic projects are shared between governments, who contribute,
depending on the national rules, up to 50 % of the project
budget, and private investment.
The proposal submission is split in two phases: Phase 1 Phase 2 Technical
Focus Proposals shall contribute to the Celtic "Integrated Telecommunications Systems" approach and shall contribute to promoting the Celtic "Pan-European laboratory" (Panlab) with suitable platforms and test vehicles. Call 4 proposal shall focus on the technology issues laid down in the Celtic Purple Book, in particular, on the new challenges described in the purple book annex (version 2). In addition to the objectives of the Purple Book proposals may also focus on particular issues mentioned in the Strategic Research Agendas (SRA) of the European Technology Platforms of the EU Framework 7 programme with which Celtic plans to coordinate its work activities:
Celtic Information Day On 22 February 2006 Celtic will organise the "Celtic Call 4 Information Day", which is open to all people interested in the Celtic objectives. This events is a platform to present new proposals or project ideas and to discuss them with interested experts or potential project partners.
